
Chief Bardezbain was hired as the Chief of Police in September of 2009. He started his law enforcement career as a Patrol Officer with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office in February of 1975 and retired as a Major in September of 2006. During his career he held several supervisory positions which included Detective Sergeant, Training Sergeant, Internal Affairs Commander, Support Bureau Commander and Detention Bureau Commander. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice and a Master of Public Administration from Wichita State University. He is also a graduate of the 182nd Session of the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia.
Capt. Cox started his law enforcement career with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office serving there from 1981 to 1987. He then worked at the Mulvane Police Department from 1987 to 1991 where he attained the rank of Patrol Sergeant. He began working at the Eastborough Police Department in 1995.
In 1996 it was necessary for him to move to Colby, Kansas due to a death in the family. While there he served as Deputy with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office. Capt. Cox returned to the Wichita area in 1998 and served with the Andover Police Department for a short while before returning to the Eastborough Police Department in that same year.
Capt. Cox was promoted to Lieutenant in 2001 and to Captain in 2010, the position he currently holds. He served as interim Chief of Police from May to September of 2009. Capt. Cox is the second generation in his family to serve the City of Eastborough. His uncle, Lee Cox, retired from the Eastborough Police Department in 1991.
Officer Brungardt started his law enforcement career as a Deputy with the Russell County Sheriff's Office in 2003. In 2004 he graduated from Barton County Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2005 he left the Russell County Sheriff's Office and hired on the Ellis Police Department. He subsequently left the Ellis Police Department in 2007 and began employment with the City of Eastborough that same year.
Officer Cross started his law enforcement career in 1989 as a law enforcement specialist with the United States Air Force. He started his civilian law enforcement career with the Altamont, Kansas Police Department. While with Altamont he developed and supervised a motorcycle unit for three years. He served with the Altamont Police Department for nine years eventually attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was also a member of the Labette County Volunteer Dive/Rescue Team, serving as the Assistant Chief.
In 2006, Officer Cross joined the Park City, Kansas Police Department where he worked as a patrolman and a commercial vehicle inspector. Officer Cross has served with the Eastborough Police Department since March of 2008.
Detective Phommarath started his law enforcement career with the Wichita Police Department in 2002 as a Patrol Officer. In 2005 he worked part time for the Belle Plaine, Kansas Police Department as a patrol/compliance officer. While with Belle Plaine he received the Officer of the Year award for his work in the community.
In May of 2006 he was hired part time with the Eastborough Police Department; in February of 2007 he was promoted to a full time position. In March of 2008 he was promoted to the rank of Detective taking on the duties of investigations and case follow up. Detective Phommarath was awarded Officer of the Year in 2007 and 2008 and has also been awarded a Certificate of Commendation for his diligence on several cases that led to successful prosecutions. He is one of three law enforcement officer's in Sedgwick County that is fluent in Laotian and assists other agencies in translation when needed.
Officer Vickery grew up in Eastborough and is the only officer to have ever lived and worked here. His grandparents and parents lived here and he has relatives that still live here. Officer Vickery's entire law enforcement career has been with the Eastborough Police Department, starting in June of 1976. The majority of his time has been spent working the night shift. While working the night shift he attended classes at Wichita State University during the day and completed his studies for a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice in May of 1992.
Officer Vickery has received several awards from the Wichita Police Department. In 1987 he received a Bronze Wreath for Meritorious Service, in 1989 a Certificate of Commendation, and in 1990 a Certificate of Appreciation. In 2004 Officer Vickery founded the K-9 Search and Rescue of Kansas (K9SARK) which he still oversees today. The team currently has over twenty dogs, nine that are nationally certified, including his own dog, Ranger.
Officer Amanda Wulf was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. She attended the University of Kansas and finished her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at Wichita State University in December of 2005. Continuing her studies at WSU she went on to earn a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice, which she completed in May of 2007. Both degrees were earned with a cumulative grade point average of a 4.0. Officer Wulf originally received her Law Enforcement Certification from the State of Colorado in June of 2009. She completed her Reciprocity Certification for the State of Kansas in January of 2011, when she was hired by the Eastborough Police Department.
