Fraud Alert

The Eastborough Police Department has learned that a group of traveling home repair scam artists may be in the area doing roof repair, home repair and paving scams.

They usually show up uninvited or unrequested. They will almost always tell the victim they have been working in the area and have left-over materials they could use to repair your roof, home or driveway.

No matter what the repair is they offer to do usually takes no more than 1 to 11/2 hours because no preparation work is done for the "repair".

Payment is always requested in cash. If the victim can only pay by check, they ask that it be made out to an individual - not the company they claim to be with.

These con men like to target the elderly and will cruise neighborhoods looking for likely targets. They will not knock on every door in the neighborhood.

All of their vehicles will have out of state tags and if they advertise a company name, it will be in the form of a magnetic sign on the doors.

Anyone who feels they have been contacted by these individuals is asked to call the police immediately.
