Daniel Bardezbain (Candidate for Chief of Police)
The purpose of the meeting was to interview Daniel Bardezbain for the position of Chief of Police. Britt M. Brown introduced Mr. Bardezbain to the Council and gave them a brief background. There was a forty five minute period of questions and answers. Following that, Mr. Bardezbain excused himself.
At 6:15 pm the Council moved into Executive Session. The Council ended Executive Session at 6:30 pm.
John Johnson moved and John Mastio seconded that Jennifer Wagle and/or Britt M. Brown be authorized to offer Mr. Bardezbain the position of Chief of Police. They were authorized to offer $57, 500 as an initial salary with a review in six months. Motion passed unanimously.
There was then a discussion that if Mr. Bardezbain accepts the position, the Mayor should write a letter to our residents so they hear the news from the Council first. Then there would be a formal press release with a professional picture. Finally, after a few weeks we should have an open house at City Hall where the residents can come and meet the new Chief.
