Eastborough is a third class city with a City Hall, a Mayor-Council government, a Police Department, a Municipal Court and many parks. In addition, we receive support from Sedgwick County. City Hall is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; when closed there is an answering machine which is monitored by the Police Department.
Council members and the Mayor are elected to 4 year terms on a staggered basis. City Council meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of every month unless posted otherwise and are open meetings. The Municipal Court is in session the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
The Police Department is a very important benefit to our citizens. Besides providing safety 24 hours a day, it offers vacation security for your home. When you are planning to be out of town, notify City Hall and the police department will check your home and pick up your mail and papers if requested. Since our streets are narrow, if you have a party or home sale, the police department will limit parking to one side of the street.
It's been an exciting year for your city council. As I am sure you are all aware of the "west-side" street issues, the council has finalized plans to move forward on street reconstruction. Kansas Paving provided the lowest bid and will start work on or around April 1st. The project must be completed within 120 days which would be around August 1st. The council has worked hard to satisfy our citizens and I think that when the project is completed, it will be a significant benefit for the city. Councilman John Johnson has worked above and beyond to make this happen and I sincerely appreciate the work he has contributed...
