You may have seen in the news recently about brazen night time burglaries that have taken place just west of Eastborough in the College Hill neighborhood. The perpetrators are boldly entering the residences while the homeowners are in bed asleep. These generally are not forced entries. Entry is made through an unlocked door. The burglars are not in the residence very long. They take valuables that are readily accessible and easy to carry, i.e. laptops, cameras, I-pods, purses, etc. They have also taken vehicles whose keys they have found or were left in the vehicle while it was parked in the garage.
Unfortunately two of our residents were victims of the same type of crime during the early morning hours of Friday, 12/11/09. It has been determined that the homes were burglarized been 12:00AM and 5:00AM. There was also an unlocked vehicle gone through.
As your police chief I am reminding everyone to be extra cautious and vigilant. Place small valuables out of sight and/or in a secure location in your home. Make sure all exterior doors to your residence are locked, including the door into an attached garage if possible. A garage is not a secure location, remove the keys from your vehicle's ignition and take them inside. If you have an alarm, set it when you retire for the evening. Turn on exterior lights at night, the motion sensor type are best.
If you would like a security check of your residence please call, our Officers are here to help you in any way possible. If you see any suspicious activity at any time please call 911 right away. Have a safe and merry Christmas.
Chief Danny Bardezbain

Waste Connection wants to remind all of our Cities that during the Holiday season the week of Christmas and New Years, we will be servicing your city 1 day later than normal after the 25th December and 1st of January.
This year the only service day that will change is Friday. If your normal service day is Friday the 25th this year your service day will be on Saturday one day later. The same goes for New Years Day.
As in the past, during the holiday season, some Eastborough residents have chosen to recognize the efforts of the Police Department with a thank you gift. The City Council asks that if you wish to do so, please make your check payable to the "Police Benefit Fund". You may send them to City Hall (Attention: Chief of Police). If you have questions call Barbara at City Hall (682-4111).
